They weren't perfect; sometimes more distracting than helpful. But they gave our PCs a playful soul. In a world before AI assistants, these quirky characters made technology feel less like a machine and more like a companion.
Today, they're remembered with a smile, as symbols of a time when software tried to be friendly, even if it wasn't always useful.
